Animal Worker Safety

The purpose of an occupational health and safety program (OHSP) for animal workers at New Mexico State University is to decrease the risk/hazard associated with use of vertebrate animals in research, teaching and service consistent with an overall goal of maintaining a safe and healthy workplace.

The Office of the Vice President for Research and Compliance oversees the NMSU Institutional Animal Care and Use Program (IACUC). Please use the link below to access their website for additional information and specific training requirements.

As part of the NMSU Policy and Occupational Health and Safety Program, the Animal Worker Safety course is required for all personnel working with or around animals at all NMSU campuses and facilities. Please use the link below to view available classes and registration.
