NMSU
Policy: for University Driving Permit and Vehicle Use:
In order to drive a university vehicle (licensed
for highway use), the employee must obtain and retain an NMSU Driving
Permit.
Generally the requirement for the permit are that the individual
employee:
a. Must attend (or show proof of recent attendance
at) a nationally sanctioned
safety
driving course (e.g. National Safety Council Defensive Driving or similarly
sanctioned class- call EH&S for list of acceptable courses);
b. Has a valid driving
license (U.S. license);
c. Maintain a
good driving record (Prospective drivers will undergo a motor vehicle records check,
initially and every 3 years. Any traffic citation for driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, or
failure to obey any applicable traffic laws while driving or occupying a state
vehicle may result in suspension, denial, or revocation of the University driving
permit.); and
d. Must adhere to the requirements of the
Vehicle use procedures as defined by the NMSU
Transportation Council. |
