Safety tip: Slow down, watch for pedestrians

Slow down while driving and observe your surroundings as a pedestrian. Caution and attention to safety are absolutely critical with increased congestion and more vehicles, utility carts and pedestrian traffic on campus. Be especially courteous and patient with our new campus pedestrians and drivers as they find their way around.

For detailed information, review Best Practices for Campus Driving at http://safety.nmsu.edu/campus-safety/vehicle-and-cart-drivers/vehicles-and-defensive-driving-program/bestpracticecampusdriver/.

Other tips include:

-Eliminate distractions when driving

-Watch for the unexpected

-Pass bicyclists and utility carts with care

-Drive the speed limit

-Avoid congested campus areas

-Safely share campus streets
