NMSU Bloodborne Exposure Control Plan

The purpose of the Exposure Control Plan (ECP) is to reduce or eliminate personnel exposure to blood or certain other body fluids in the workplace as well as to comply with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen Standard. The Standard requires supervisors, department heads or directors to conduct an exposure determination for each position in their area and identify the potential for occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Each department or work area with a potential for occupational exposure to Bloodborne pathogens must have their own written exposure control plan. The Exposure Control Plan Template provided in the link below is a tool to assist departments in meeting this requirement.

If additional assistance is needed regarding the Exposure Control Plan, please contact the NMSU Biosafety Officer at ric_admin@nmsu.edu  / 575-646-7177 or EHS&RM at ehs@nmsu.edu / 575-646-3327.
